No — monitoring is optional, but we recommend it. Many homeowners self-monitor free through the app and decide what to do when an alert comes in. But when an alarm goes off at 3 a.m., the last thing you want is to be the one calling the police — with 24/7 professional monitoring, that response is handled for you, so you stay safe while help is on the way. It’s a modest monthly fee, month-to-month, cancel any time.

Yes — we’re in Alberta, so 5% GST applies. There’s no provincial sales tax. Every quote and invoice shows the GST separately so you can see exactly what you’re paying.

Your Ajax alarm can be connected to 24/7 professional monitoring through LANVAC, our ULC-listed monitoring partner, and we’re happy to provide documentation of that listing for your insurance company on request.
Most homes are done in a few hours, in a single visit. We schedule a time that suits you, install and configure everything, and make sure it’s all working and you know how to use it before we leave.
Yes. We use weatherproof equipment rated well below our coldest nights, and we recommend hardwired cameras for reliable power in deep cold. Mounted and set up correctly, they work as well in February as they do in July.
Yes. Because you own the equipment, it keeps working — you simply lose the monitoring-centre service. You can still self-monitor from your phone.
It’s your equipment, so you can take the portable parts with you, or leave it for the new owners. We’re happy to help you reinstall at your new place.
Yes. The Ajax cameras we install are NDAA-compliant, so they’re not built on the hardware flagged for surveillance and data-security concerns — important for businesses and anyone who cares where their footage lives.
Yes, if your home is inside the City of Edmonton. Under the City of Edmonton Alarm Systems Bylaw #10922, a premises with an operating alarm system must hold a valid permit, and the Edmonton Police Service will not respond to an alarm without one unless there is information that a crime or emergency is in progress. As published by the Edmonton Police Service, a new permit application is $30 and stays valid for the life of the alarm system at that address for the original registered owner; updating your permit details is $10, and operating without a valid permit carries a $300 violation ticket. Permits are issued by the Edmonton Police Service, not by Loch Security — but we flag it at install, and we commission every system to keep false alarms down: detectors sited away from vents, heaters and pet traffic, entry and exit delays matched to how your household actually comes and goes, and arm/disarm training for everyone in the home before we leave. Outside Edmonton, check your own municipality — Leduc, Beaumont, Spruce Grove and other corridor communities each set their own rules.

You do. The hub, keypad, siren, sensors and cameras are yours once the system is paid in full — Loch Security does not lease equipment, so there is no multi-year term and no buy-out to leave. Because the hardware is yours rather than rented, you keep the system if you ever change monitoring providers or installers. Ajax hubs carry an internal backup battery and support cellular (LTE) alongside Ethernet and Wi‑Fi depending on hub model, so the system stays armed and keeps sending alerts through a power or internet outage. Equipment carries the manufacturer’s warranty and we stand behind our installation workmanship.
