How a commercial install works

The same seven steps on every site, so you know what you are buying before anyone drills a hole.

1. Free site assessment

The on-site assessment and written quote are free. We walk your premises — entrances, sales floor, back-of-house, yard and loading bays — and agree what needs covering and when the site is occupied.

2. Written camera & device layout

A written plan showing every camera position, field of view, alarm zone, door controller and recorder before anything is ordered.

3. Itemized quote up front

An itemized equipment and installation quote in writing. You approve it before work begins — no surprise line items.

4. Installation around your hours

Installed by the Loch team from Leduc, scheduled outside trading hours where that keeps your business running.

5. Testing & commissioning

Every zone, sensor, camera, door controller and communication path is tested and commissioned before handover.

6. Staff training & handover

We set up users, codes and permissions, then train your staff on arming, disarming, remote viewing and duress procedures.

7. Local support afterwards

Your business owns the equipment and keeps our direct number for service, changes and additional sites.

Commercial security questions, answered

Straight answers for Edmonton-area business owners comparing installers.

Who installs commercial security cameras and alarms for small businesses in Edmonton?

Loch Security Inc. does. We are an independent, veteran-owned security installer based in Leduc, Alberta, and an authorized Ajax Systems dealer. We design, supply, install and support business alarm systems, NDAA-compliant camera systems and access control for retail, office, warehouse and yard sites across Edmonton, Leduc, Nisku and central Alberta. The same team that quotes your site installs it and supports it afterwards.

Are Loch Security’s commercial cameras NDAA compliant?

Yes. We supply and install NDAA-compliant AI cameras that meet Section 889 of the U.S. National Defense Authorization Act, which prohibits equipment from banned manufacturers such as Hikvision and Dahua. Compliant hardware matters for businesses that hold or bid on public-sector contracts, and for organizations applying to grant programs that require compliant equipment.

Do I have to sign a long-term monitoring contract for a business alarm system?

No. Your business buys the equipment and owns it outright, and monitoring is optional rather than mandatory. If you want a fully-monitored option, 24/7 professional monitoring is available through our monitoring partner LANVAC’s ULC-listed monitoring centre — ask us for a quote.

Who owns the equipment after a commercial installation?

Your business does. Every alarm hub, sensor, camera, recorder and door controller we install is yours to keep from day one. If you ever stop using our monitoring, the system stays with you and keeps working locally.

Can Loch Security cover more than one business location?

Yes. Multi-site businesses, franchises and contractors can manage every location from a single system view, with per-site zoning, user permissions and a full audit log of entries. We handle additional sites as your operation grows.

Does Loch Security install access control for Edmonton businesses?

Yes. We install keypads, fobs and door controllers that set who gets in and when, with a full audit log of every entry, plus panic buttons and duress codes for staff safety during opening, closing and cash handling.

How long does a commercial security installation take?

Most small-business sites are assessed, quoted and installed within a few days of approval. We work from a written camera and device layout and an itemized quote you approve first, and we schedule installation outside your trading hours where that keeps your business running.

Does my Edmonton business need an alarm permit?

Yes, if the premises is inside the City of Edmonton. Under the City of Edmonton Alarm Systems Bylaw #10922, the proprietor of a premises with an operating alarm system must hold a valid permit, and the Edmonton Police Service will not respond to an alarm without one unless there is information that a crime or emergency is in progress. As published by the Edmonton Police Service, a new permit application is $30 and operating without a valid permit carries a $300 violation ticket. False alarm charges are tiered by premises size — $100 for a small business under 500 square metres and $150 for a business over 500 square metres — and an alarm system that generates repeated false alarms can have its permit suspended. Permits are issued by the Edmonton Police Service, not by Loch Security. We commission every commercial system to keep those charges off your account: detectors sited away from overhead doors, heaters and stock movement, entry and exit delays matched to how staff actually open and close, and arm/disarm training for every keyholder before handover. Outside Edmonton, check your own municipality — Leduc, Nisku, Beaumont and other corridor communities each set their own rules.
