Finding an Ajax Security Systems Installer Near Edmonton: What to Ask Before You Buy

Kevin Girdler · October 13, 2026

If you have started shopping for an Ajax security system, you have probably noticed the search results are not very helpful. A handful of general alarm companies show up, some mention Ajax in passing, and it is hard to tell who actually installs and supports the platform versus who just knows the name. Here is what "Ajax installer" should mean, and the questions worth asking before you sign anything.

What Ajax Systems Actually Is

Ajax Systems is a European-made, professional-grade wireless security platform — hubs, door and window sensors, motion detectors, sirens, keypads and NDAA-compliant AI cameras that all talk to each other over an encrypted wireless protocol and are managed from one phone app. It is not a DIY box-store kit, but it is not a proprietary, locked-down system either. That combination is why it has become popular with independent installers across Canada, including here in the Edmonton area.

Ajax Systems is also, confusingly, the name of a town in Ontario. If you are searching from Alberta, make sure the results you are looking at are actually about the security brand.

"Authorized Ajax Dealer" Should Mean Something

Not every company that mentions Ajax in a blog post or quote is actually set up to sell and support it. An authorized Ajax Systems dealer has a direct relationship with the manufacturer for genuine hardware, current firmware, warranty support, and the tools to configure a system properly — hub placement, radio range, sensor pairing, app account setup. A general electrician or a company juggling six different alarm brands may be able to install the hardware, but that is different from being set up to support it long-term.

Loch Security is an independent, veteran-owned authorized Ajax Systems dealer and installer based in Leduc. We design, install, configure, and support Ajax wireless alarms and NDAA-compliant AI cameras for homes and businesses across Edmonton, Leduc, St. Albert, Sherwood Park, Beaumont, Spruce Grove, Nisku, and central Alberta — the same local team quotes the job, installs it, and answers the phone afterward. Full details are on our FAQ page.

Questions to Ask Any Installer Before You Buy

Whether you end up talking to us or someone else, these are worth asking:

Are you an authorized dealer for the brand, or just familiar with it? There is a real difference between a company that stocks and supports the platform and one that has installed it once or twice.

Do I own the equipment, or am I renting it? Some providers lease hardware and tie you to a multi-year contract. With an outright purchase, the hub, sensors, keypad, and cameras are yours the day they are installed — no buy-out to leave.

Is monitoring optional, and what are the terms? A system should work for you whether or not you add professional monitoring. If you do want it, ask whether it is month-to-month with no long-term lock-in, and whether the monitoring centre is ULC-listed — that detail matters if you plan to ask your insurer about a discount.

Are the cameras NDAA-compliant? This matters more than most homeowners realize. NDAA-compliant cameras are not built on hardware that has been flagged for surveillance and data-security concerns in other jurisdictions — worth asking about for any home or business camera purchase, not just Ajax.

What happens if I switch installers or monitoring providers later? If you own the hardware outright, you should be able to keep it. Ask directly, and get the answer in writing if it matters to you.

Is there a real local team behind the quote? A system is only as good as the support behind it. Ask who shows up if a sensor needs replacing two years from now.
